Ok, I know many people will say, just from reading the title, "You should read all the docs. :P"

Problem is, I have done that. Several times. Even many online searches came up with nothing, so I'm here.

I've made a handful of textures, mostly just to test, and learn about modding more. For some reason, they're not showing up in-game.

I triple-checked the spelling, punctuation, and just about everything I could think to check, but still no results. Here is an example of how I entered them (there would be a screenshot, but photobucket is being a bitch and I can't login, so yeah, this day is just going fantastically):

texture 0 "./1custom/one.jpg"

1custom is the folder, obviously. Named so, so that it appears at the top of my list, making moving/editing much quicker for me.

Again, I've looked for hours trying to find out why it doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated in this.

Ideas for a new ladder: we win

Hi guys

the title should be self-explanatory. As you all know, in this game – in spite that many modes are based on teams – the only moments we see real team play are in clan matches. In pubs on other hand we see mainly people fighting as if they were alone (the typical noob's final statement is "I win").

What about dedicating a ladder to team play?

Here some ideas about how it could work. Unluckily I have no coding skills. But I use to work with people much more qualified then me, offering them ideas, so I try to replicate this here hoping this could be useful.

I'm thinking about different things that could correct some aspects that we find in the ladders we have at the moment.

I assume for simplicity that we are talking only of CTF, possibly with 12 players maximum.

1 | Inscription

there should be one (or more) always on line dedicated server referring to the new ladder.

There should be something like an inscription period, so that only the players that have given their name could entry in the server(s).
In a typical month, the first week could be dedicated to the inscription and the remaining weeks to the play.

2 | Time

Points made by a single player should be counted only for a fixed time.

As in all matches and championships in any sport, time of play must be a fixed amount so that the performances are comparable. The ladder should count players' score only for the agreed amount of time played. When the limit is reached the player should be automatically banned from ladder servers until the term is over.

So if we set, for instance, a maximum of 5 hours a week, after the player X has been playing for 5 hours he has to wait the next week to play again on that server.

(no more things like pph should be necessary, and every other parameter - flags, frags etc, - would be always absolute and comparable at the end of the month)

3 | Rewarding the team play

Scoring should reward not only the personal skill but also the team play.

Shuffling should be inhibited. Of course if the server could form, somehow, even teams, that would be better (maybe assigning to every player at the moment of the inscription a ratio calculated on previous position in the ladder). Otherwise one has to accepts the team he's in and fight for the victory (without whining). Loosing is part of the game, always.

The scoring system should assign in this way a bonus for all the players in the winning team.
In this way all the actions performed by a player to ensure victory to his team would result in a good score for him (in a team play defending is important as much as scoring…).

In my mind this is the ideal hierarchy of the recompensed actions in CTF

winning
scoring
killing the flag robber/returning a stolen flag
stealing
frag/gib*

*under the team point of view a kill is a kill: i.e. a way to eliminate an enemy from the game for a certain amount of time, giving your team a temporary superiority. Regardless of the skill used for it.

This the hierarchy of penalized actions

abandoning match
teamkilling w/frag
teamgib/teamkill

I'd really like to know what do you think. Would you enjoy such a ladder? Do you think is possible to realize something like this? How would you correct it? What would you add?

thanks for you time/opinions

Ok, so I know this is a long shot but my clan is in need of a server for clan activities. If anyone has a spare server that they would be willing to let us use that would be awesome. You can even join us as we accept players of any skill, as long as you have a positive attitude and just want to have fun.

Again, I know it is a longshot as I have nothing to offer in return other than a spot on the team but I figured I would ask.

Thanks and Happy Fragging.

Hey I found this server tonight (. It has some interesting gameplay changes. Isn't this against server rules?

So anyway,
1st: Anyone who makes 10 kills is forced to respawn, I have no idea if this happens with Flags too, but if it does, that would be very unfortunate if that interfered with the outcome.

2nd: If you cause more than 100 dmg.....with any weapon, you get a "gib" (especially shotgun). Even with no headshot. Since when were people supposed to edit this?

I) Where can I find it ?
http://hsfr.fr/maprot/
(I host it at home so maybe it won't work sometimes :p)

II) What is this ?
If you run a server, you will have to make a map rotation file. Your server will load the maps specified in this file.
To learn more about map rotation files : see "map rotation" http://assault.cubers.net/docs/v1.0.4/server.html.

III) Why is this editor useful ?
It is useful for people who don't understand how to write a map rot or who don't have enough time to do that.
Instead of using a particular syntax, this tool allow you to choose map name, game mode, game time and more informations easily.

IV) How does it work ?
1) You have to fill in the input :
Map* : the name of the map you want to load
Game mode* : the game mode to use. Default value is tdm.
Game time* : the game duration, in min.
Allow vote : Yes to allow people to vote during the game, No to disable voting.
Min players : the min. of connected players to load the map
Max players : the max. of connected players to load the map
Skip lines : the number of lines you want to skip if the map could be loaded.

* = You must specify a value.

To add an entry, click
If you want to remove an entry, click

2) Exportation
When you finished to edit your map rotation, you can show the result clicking "Show map rot" button or export it as "maprot.cfg" clicking "Export map rot" button.

3) Importation
If you want to edit an existing maprotation, click the "Import a map rotation file..." link and select the file to open. Then import it.

V) Can I have the source ?
