History
The beginning
Between a period of smoldering discontent with the leadership of the clan Maximum Destruction (MD) in November 2007 four members of that clan (Aphrodite (now: Princess), Apollo, DogDancing and RandumIdiot (now: RandumKiwi) decided in a chat conference to form up a new one. At November 22nd, 2007 the clan Tear you Down! was officially announced at the forum of MD. In the meantime it was clear that more of the half of the old MD members would switch over to Tear you Down!
As a result of the trouble in the former clan the new one started up with the precept not to be ruled again by only one person. Therefore two of the founding members - DogDancing and RandiumIdiot - would be chosen to be the formal leaders of the clan with equal rights. The other side of this precept reflects in the fact that many decisions (e.g. the invitation of possible new members) are done by votes of all active members.
Change in structure
Like its predecessor Tear you Down! has been growing very rapidly. This and some other aspects caused grounds for discontent in the clan. They stopped in February 2008 the invitation of new members and DogDancing started a discussion about the reorganization of the clan's infrastructure. The goal was to stabilize the clan and to prevent former mistakes. After a long going debate about the "how" and "why" they decided to install a council group of five members: The TyD! Council members are chosen to be the point of contact to the clan (especially for other clans), they act as a quick response team and also as the forum admins. Nevertheless the most aspects of the clan are still ruled by its members (e.g. the process of invitation). The first voting attempt had to be restarted, cause RandumIdiot - one of the founding members and also one of the candidates - left the clan. With the result of second voting the new leading board consisted of following members: Apollo, DogDancing, Harps, KanslozeClown and Princess.
In July 2008 another clan founder and council member, DogDancing, resigned his membership on his own wish. He joined Beyond Compare later. Short after that at the beginning of August 2008 Princess, who is also a founder and council member, left the clan, too. Later she joined Armed & Dangerous. With that, Apollo is the last founding member who still remains active in the clan. Since their leaving, followed by a period of a general reduce of the active members in the clan, the council is acting with two vacant seats.
In June 2009, and after several months of in-game inactivity, one of the best player of AC left the TyD! clan. Harps was also one of the three council members remaining.
Further to the forums attack and the recent hostilities with some members of the AC community, the TyD! clan also lost its two last leaders and big contributors, Apollo and KanslozeClown. Therefore, a new council should be chosen in the next days.
Brazilian ban incident
The rise of waves of cheaters/hackers, impostors, master role abusers aso., which have flooded the community and its servers, forced Tear you Down! to a change its policy how to handle them. After a deeper investigation it was clear that the most of them had their origin in Brazil. Cause the ISPs in this country distributes dynamic IP addresses the permanent ban of a single IP was ineffective. Therefore the server providing members decided to block whole IP ranges and ISPs, still with the hope that an upcoming version of AssaultCube would make this step needless. This action was misunderstood by some brazilian players and clans as an act of racism [1][2][3], which resulted in the beginning of a ban war against their members on non-clan-servers. After a long going discussion on the official forum the most brazilian players have accepted the necessity of this step and the ban war was over. Afterwards the first brazilian public server was opened.
In April 2008 another server was fired up: Pennywise was an experiment to create a server on which Brazilians can play, but also to prove that running a server without the blacklist and other modifications results in mayhem. When the experiment has started, the server was not enlisted as a Tear you Down-server (it doesn't have had clantags on it), worked without any blacklist and master restrictions. With that it was somewhat more a normal server (excep for the experimental maps, autogetmap and logging). The first months the experiment was looking to fail, which means that there was no more or less abusive actions logged then on the other (full-equipped) servers. With that the server becomes officially a Tear you Down-server. But after three months of running this server, the situation has changed drastically: The logs has shown that 90% of all problems on Pennywise are caused by players from Brazil. As a result the master become in that way restricted that only admins were able to ban players. On the other hand the clan discussed to stop the server cause the experiment has proven the "mayhem theory". At the end the server, now equipped with a minimal blacklist, remained online. Due to the 1.0 release of AssaultCube the last chapter of this experiment has been closed: Pennywise is now a full-equipped server like the other ones.
The FrenchOne war
In March 2009, tipper from Dedicated Elite Soldiers published the admin password to the Tear you Down!-servers ingame by accident. Several players of the clan FrenchOne (F]1) realized that, shared the pass and started to abuse admin powers. Short after this, the pass was changed and KanslozeClown informed the leaders of that clan, that the abusers aren't welcome on his servers for a while. Two of the involved players - Wearpon and Ronald - ignored this and continued to evade after they have been banned. A third involved player - HeyMily - was already blacklisted for distributing modified maps when he used the nickname M&M|#100%Geek[4][5][6]. On March 28, 2009, - after a recent ban evasion - Apollo and KanslozeClown entered one of their Match-server which was used by F]1-members. They were informed that the whole clan has been banned.
On the end of April 2009, the controversy between both clans has reached a new level: melody has become aware of the fact that HeyMily has modified a map of BoxCutter and proclaimed to be its creator[7]. Apollo published that impudence at the official forum[8]. As a result of the discussion on this thread, *F]1#virtualX tried three days later to apologize to the community for his clanmates[9]. On May 10, 2009, the clan was announced to be dead[10].
The Forums attack
On July 4, 2009 adam played with an impostor of BlackFlag in a 2vs2-match against Máfia Assassina. After some unfair actions, adam checked the IP address of the guy and banned him from the server. Short after that the same guy registered on the Tear you Down!-forums with the the account name toxic. He hacked it the to get admin rights under the new nickname carglass. With that he banned every user, deleted all content and replaced it with a screenshot of that match. adam informed the community about that incident[11].
To that time a guy with the nickname JackSparrow was logged in the IRC-channel of oNe, bragged out to be carglass and celebrated his "victory" about TyD! with several guys: Impakt'd, Morgan Kell, EmoPoser, DeadToMe, Jelly, XFA and others. Some of them incite carglass to do more damage on their site. After that the mentioned guys decided to enter a Tear you Down!-server with the nickname of the hacker to have some "fun". Morgan Kell itself opened also a thread and in which he - along with the others - posted his "regret" about the hacking[12], telling nothing about the contact in the chat nor about the "joking" in the server. Later, Apollo found the carglass-entries in the server's logfile and banned all of them[13]. Short after that the group around Morgan Kell revealed themself to be the carglass-fans. Instead of an appology they started now a two days ongoing reckoning against Tear you Down!, its contributions[14] and several members[15][16], tried to make them look like a mighty dictators clan. Also people who take part to TyD! have been blamed[17][18][19] and as a strange "coincidence" someone tried to hack the w00p-site short after their comments. Until the end no one of the involved people let a word slip out about their connection to JackSparrow aka carglass.
In the meantime, Clown was able to reestablish the forum again. Cause there was a backup file available the post of only two weeks have been lost - which is of course enough. Jelly and XFA have reliable appologized, so they are the only one who have been unbanned so far.
Contributions
Servers
The clan provided multiple public and private gaming servers and also his own teamspeak server. Back in the 0.93 times the most of the gaming servers were already equipped with patches for supporting the public blacklist, logging and autogetmap and many more. Some of the necessary patch code is now part of the official release (since 1.0).
Since the AssaultCube Release Cup some people were complaining about a lack of 'training' servers in Europe, KanslozeClown fired up another server, following the same way some server hosts of Beyond Compare did before. To keep stuff simple, he used the same scheme, so this one is also using the password match.
Here is the public server list :

AC ladder
The clan also provided the ladder service, a ranking list of AssaultCube players originally created by acfan and recreated by KanslozeClown after a hardware failure on the hosting system. The ranking points on the ladder are calculated by the score data gained on several servers. Since the AssaultCube 1.0 release a new version of the ladder service is available. This new ladder was necessary to support the new gamemodes like hunt the flag and keep the flag. Its last addition was the clanwar-addon. Unfortunately, the AC ladder has been stopped too.
Mapping
Beside this, many present and former members are interested in mapping: Very interesting is the update of the map ac_italy, done by Paulet's (known as ac_italy_deluxe). Also BoxCutter works on maps, which are played best at LSS. And severals maps of Apollo and jiba are included in the map rotation of the clan's servers. Their latest release (ac_industrialisies_beta0.1 by Brett) and other maps are always ready for download at the Tear you Down! forum and at Akimbo.
